I've recently upgraded my pc and got up to reinstalling wings today..
Everything was peachy until I just realised - I deleted ALL of my models!
aaah!
I backed up everything and all my documents except my darn wings3d
stuff :( Stupid me for saving all my files in the default directory I guess
but still - grrr!
Now I'll have to remake my stuff based on the few render pics I still have,
or maybe it's a good time to start over?

You just might be able to recover some of the stuff. Ask someone who knows about filesystems. Have a look at this website:

heh, fat chance of that, i've reinstalled windows xp over the top after a full reformat
it's not really a great loss as i'm still only learning anyway

yeah it's gone.

Chalk it up to experience and get in the habit of backing up stuff. I use a external USB drive and a freeware that can do a compare and copy any new files over to it. My work folders not the whole drive.

I suggested this to a friend and he has never had a problem... get a second hard drive and save all data there. You can even set your my document folder to be on that HD. When you need to do a reinstall you don't loose all your work. I usually suggest pulling the power cable on that 2nd drive when you go to install windows as you don't want to accidentally erase the wrong drive.
