I could just open up my .lwo files in Wings without fear of losing my surface settings.

And the fact that there is still no morph shape tool. :-( I hate using LW modeler for this. It feels so unnatural.

What do you mean by morph shape tool? You can produce morph targets in Wings by editing duplicates. Wings doesn't mess up component indices, so the morph targets behave correctly (as long as you duplicate without transforms). I've exported morphs from Wings to Max and they've worked well.

No matter how careful you are. . . at some point you will mess up the point order. With a "built in" morph tool, you could embed those morphs into your object's .lwo or export them individually to ensure point order continuity.

Wouldn't the simplest workaround be ...

To ask the developers to use a deterministic traversal order when writing out at least some of your favorite export File formats ???? One would think that this should not be a huge deal to perform. Alas ... the developers seem very sort on time.

I'm amazed that point order stuff ever works ... since there's no contract between Wings3D and the user that says it should.

If you watch the video demos of Modo you can see some of the AMAZING things you can do with a built in Morph system. And Modo is just a modeler "like wings". Point order is important. . . yes. . . but a full blown morph engine within Wings would kick major bootie.

Wegg, just to mention that the classical Scorpius Wings plugin to export in LWO format
was recently reompiled. Perhaps this could be util in your workflow.

Ahh. . .

Well THAT will help. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

I exported my bug project to maya and had no problem with uv sets or point order. I could transfer info easily from one object to another.

I have to agree 100 percent here about Wings and how killer it would be with morphing capabilities. Wings now has modeling features that I wish Mirai had. (slide and connect)

Mirai is still way superior for me though because of the Morphing and UV tools that I use every day.

<< and UV tools >>

Could you flesh this out a little, please?
What's missing in auv that you find useful in M?
