View Full Version : sharing keyboard shortcuts
andrewjohn81 05-31-2005, 01:05 PM I have two copies of Rhino and I would like to have the same setup.
Is there a way to export the keyboard shortcuts and the toolbar layouts? I can't seem to find any files that look obvious, or any options to export.
It would be nice to save the files somewhere that gets backed up too, just incase I need to reinstall or something.

If you are using Rhino 3 and have the latest Bonus Tools, there is an option in Bonus/Tools/Export Options. This will allow you to export whatever sections of the options you need. Then use Bonus/Tools/Inport Options to add them to your second Rhino.

the toolbar is "default.tb" unless you saved it under a different name. This is located under C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 3.0\System\
just copy and paste to get the toolbar the same.
The keyboard shortcuts are located in the registry under
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\McNeel\Rhinoceros\3.0\Scheme: Default\Options\ShortcutKeys]
I would select the "ShortcutKeys" folder, Registry menu, Export Registry, save it. then bring to other computer. double click on the saved reg file and click yes/ok. I think this should work but never tried it.

A better way would be getting Bonus tools for both copys. Then use the Export and Import menu from the Bonus/Tools/ (import or export). You can select all kinds of stuff to import and export.

Bonus Menu! I always forget to look there.
I don't understand why they don't just integrate those options right into the regular ones, then just put some kind of indicator that they are a bonus tool like *BT*export or something like that.
That way you don't have to look as many places for things.
That was exactly what I was looking for though. Thanks.

No Problem
Hopefully V4 will have all the Bonus tools integrated and many many more :)

I think it's suppose to have it's own set of bonus tools. i'm hoping they will disperse them throughout the correct menus though.
They did that with the new features, which is nice. They are collected together, but also can be found on other toolbars as well.
