hi

can you tell me in what kind of jobs are you working?
i am a student of architecture and i normally use rhino for modelling and
3dsmax for rendering purposes.
a view days ago i had a discussion in the office where i work, if rhino is widely used
among architects or if its more a industrial design tool.
i know its a little bit stupid to ask, because i know that prefering a tool depends
mostly on which application you learned 1st, but perhaps there is a drift towards
one tool in a field of work.

thx spec

I design jewelry with Rhino. Settings for my intaglio engraved stones. Render in C4D.

I do product visualisation for Whirlpool, for the most part. We also do some VR with EON, we render in max, model in Rhino mostly.

In Rhino, we do mostly technical modeling, but also use it as a quick tool for making other things such as environments and other products.

Industrial designer / architect visualization

For archtecture - I use autocad, rhino and c4d to render

For Industrial design - depends on whats needed

Rhino for the quickness, studio tools for details, solidworks for engineering drawings, c4d for mockup

Well I'm another that uses Rhino for architecture. I'm an architecture student so i use Rhino for that - I use lino for my 2d linework so Rhino's precision is its best asset for me.

My visualizations are Rhino models that are rendered out in 3ds max.

It's nice to see so many people using it for architecture.

I'm a servant of evil. I'm a journalist. :D

That is, the software editor in a computer magazine.

So I'm useless for your survey, but I happen to know that people at the Architectural faculty here in Zagreb use Rhino.

I do uh, everything, at Streng Design in Chicago. I typically use Rhino to model products, concepts, furniture etc, and I render in 3DS Max with Brazil and Maxwell. Lately I've been making some use of Modo though, mostly for fun stuff.

I'm a Architecture graduate and current Building Construction grad student working for a scientific engineering firm (http://www.ars-fla.com/_fpclass/fp_custommanuf.htm). Being non-technical in a way, I use Rhino from concept modeling (often from a quick sketch or purely verbal input) all the way through 2D export into AutoCAD for production layout/plotting/dimensioning of drawings. I know I should probably learn SolidWorks (for use in conjunction), but it's just so boring compared to Rhino :) Up until recently, I was using Rhino 2.0 (now Rhino 3.0 for work and 4.0 WIP for fun) and am just now delving into semi-realistic rendering (Flamingo, Vue 5 Infinite), but Penguin is probably the most productive renderer for my purposes (ease of visualization).

I teach organic character modeling in Rhino. Companies hire me for a few weeks at a time and I show their staff how I make characters in Rhino, my techniques, etc. When I'm not doing that, I work as a department manager in a bookstore. :)

Ive started doing some work for a model company designing scale flying model aircraft using rhino 3 and autocad. Its really fun work and also its great to see your rhino models come to life !!!

I'll start posting some stuff here. I had a lengthy inner turmoil looking at nurbs modeling packages (Rhino, SolidThinking, Argon, FormZ) and I finally decided on Rhino. I'm traditionally a Pro/ENGINEER person at work (designing subsea stuff, hence my avatar) and now to facilitate a more artistic want and need for freelance I went with Rhino (can't afford the heavy hitters like Alias or Pro/E).

I heard rumblings of a C4D native support plugin for .3dm and I also have Maxwell so we'll now see.

I've been instructing intro Rhino in the Jewelry & Metals department at an Art College. Otherwise I'm mostly building pseudo-mechanical projects for my own entertainment, occasionally building them with rapid prototyping in mind.

hi

thx after all for all your answers!!!
this discusion gave no common rule or a general average about people using rhino in a special working area.(in my opinion)
keep it up, and spread the (rhino-)words!
