This is my 3rd time typing this!

Okay, I am one of many people who spend there extra time making objects for a community that is based on one game. Bzflag, it has over 2000 fans. Its a Free Online Multiplayer Tank shoot'um up. This is not spam im just telling you what I am involved with 3D objects or why I make them.

I have made a car. Here are some screenies of it.

Now the whole point on this thread is how to make more realistic things in wongs while having a low polygon count. The game is sensitive to bad mesh faces and stuff so its pretty hard to get stuff to work right. These are but many of my objects: Lightbulb, Florescent Light bulb, Nuclear Stack, Hill, and various platforms. The game is played on maps (Worlds whatever you call it) We take the 3D objects and export them to .bzw format and put them into the maps heres a pic of a map with my hills.

This is an old screenie though. The new version is twice the size and with 70 hills.

If ya'll would please help me out how to reduce polygons. If there is a Polygon reducing utilities that either Exports 3ds, obj, or even wings please gimme a link!

Thanks for you patience!

Please dont take this as spam it really isnt.

What are the aspects of your game that require low polygon models? Does the server transmit all of that data to each player in realtime or is it more an issue of players having to download new custom models each time they login?
It looks to me like the models you're using are pretty low in poly count already! What kind of limits do you have in mind for a figure for player models? static objects? Or are you just looking for some general tips on making some new models in Wings3d?

I'll see if I can take a look at bzflag, if I can't find it can you post the url?
thanks

Your stuff is already ultra-low-poly. Not even wings can make a cube with just 3 polys...

P.S. The BZFlag 3D "engine" is quite limited. Up until about
6 months, maps only contained boxes and pyramids as the
core objects. Now it's got textured meshes, but the object
rendering pipeline is weak (no DLs / VBOs, no tri-stripping,
no LODs, etc...)
