just thought id copy this here its from the wings forum posted by emptyful and explains how to load a background image

With nothing selected in the geometry window, R-click to bring up the objects menu---click on "Image...". Then navigate to the image you want (.bmp,.tga,.tif format) and voila.

thought this would be useful ;)

good tip cerreto.

one problem with the images at the moment is , once you turn the wireframe mode on , the image disappears.

Clacos has a plugin that enables selective visibility , but i dont think its updated for the new wings yet :\

Hi Cerreto, told you you'd like Wings! (Hehe, another one hooked!)

Bulldog, if you add your ref pics and get everything visible, then go to object mode(b) and select your model, then go to wireframe (w) only your model will change, the reference pics will still be visible. It's not exactly a bug but I believe it is being changed to be more intuitive!
