This is probably a stupid question but where do you find the prefs file on a mac? I've looked all over and I can't find the damn thing!

The prefference file is in the system folder. You can also use Sherloc "Comand F" to search for files.

Thanks for replying but I'd already searched my whole harddrive for Wings preferences and I've just searched System for Wings and no result!

So can you tell me the name of the file or it's exact location?

Sorry to be a pain but I just can't find it!

Sorry I can't be more help. I don't usually work in OSX. I am new to Wings and normally use Animation:Master, which will only run in OS 9. I looked for the Wings preffs, but things are different in the OSX system file. To make a long story short, I have no idea. Why do you want the pref file anyway?

Cheers, Graham

I want to know the location for future reference, it still has a few bugs and so do the plugins sometimes, plus with constant reinstallations of new versions things can get screwed up, deleting the preference file can sometimes sort things out. It hasn't happened to me yet but I've read threads from people who found it necessary!

I havent had a need to delete ANY Prefs file in OSX...thats OS9 you are talking about....and I only had it with Adobe products. If you havent had a problem with Wings yet, nor any app in Mac OSX...dont needlessly search for something and waste your time on something that might never happen to you.

Preference files can still get screwed up in OSX!

Read this over at the other forum,so I guess you might have seen it already,
but here goes:
~/.wings
That is all :) (~ being your home folder, or /home/<username>,
and the file being .wings (hidden/system file, guess Finder won't display it.))

to delete a file in the terminal window, just type in rm <filename>.

If the home folder path is wrong for OSX,please don't shoot me,
never even seen a mac running it...going on general linux/unix knowledge here :)

Thanks dAfTiE, yeah I found that myself today! though I didn't realise ~ meant home folder. It would be a lot easier if it was called Wings Preferences or something similar. I presume there is some technical reason why it has this name. No wonder I couldn't find it :o)
