View Full Version : Just a few links you may find useful
I stumbled across this page of links today and thought I'd pass them on.
It shouldn't take you more than a year or so to check them all out! :o)

I know it's an obvious one but I believe Spiraloid deserves a place somewhere around this thread too

When moving on to a more complex box modeling app, most people look to Silo or Modo. But their is another app worth a look called Hexagon made by Eovia. It has absolutely the most intuituve interface of any 3D app Ive seen, even more than Wings. With Silo you have to read through the help files to know what all the tools do, and with Modo you really have to read the whole manual. But Hexagon is the only app where the tool tips on all the tool icons very clearly explain what they do. You can download the demo here:
www.eovia.com/products/hexagon/hexagon.asp (http://www.eovia.com/products/hexagon/hexagon.asp)
There are two free 3D apps I found that are similar to anim8or, and both have animation.

Not to reign in on this "innovation" parade, but doesn't taking the time to figure out an interface a plus in the industry, weither you're a pro modeler or just a rigger/animator looking for a quick and cheaper way to create their own characters to play with? Who knows how hard it would be to learn how to use the studio house's propiertary software, and how much time they'll allow for you to learn it all? Simplification is really emphasized by teachers, tutors, and at workshops, seminars, and interviews...it really stifles or even snuffs out other really necessary characteristics such as diveristy, flexability, and tenacity!
