Seems like the net is getting back up to speed here on this side of the world soon it will be fixed and fast. So I started this for the January challenge. Having some fun with the concept and it has been a while since I did a car. This is a hopped up fast 50's american car made for the mud. Still working out the details mirrors etc.

Glad to hear your internet is getting back up to speed!

I love what you're doing!

I'm not slacking...ok well maybe I am. I'm having difficulty deciding what to do. I promise to start a thread soon though!

edit: just wanted to make a few suggestions. Maybe exaggerate the contrast between the 50's sportscar body and the offroad tires? like, make it a jacked-up monster truck kind of thing. Just an idea, take it or leave it - up to you of course.

keep up the great work!

OK my crappy photobucket account is not cooperating. (I might have to look for an alternative soon) so I used CG talk. Anyways redid the grille makes it look a bit better and tweaked the headlights. Did some renders with it already with HDRI and a carpaint shader. Have a dirty and a clean version. Looking a bit better now. Thsi is supposed to be sowmwhat toonish and I am working on the driver now. While my internet connection is not the best it is funny how I can download a HDRI's faster than log into my photobucket account. Put the pics up here no problem. I know ther eis anotehr guy who is working on his model for the competition.

OK I am an idiot. I uploaded the wrong pics the ones that are there already. So this is a front view of the beast. So you can see the redone grille. I'll hold off on rendered versions.

I'll see how this works out as an alternative for image hosting. I did soem detail work added turn signals and a windsheild wiper. Tweaked the shape flared the fenders and increased the size of the rear tires. Getting close. I have been playing with shaders but I'll save that for later.

Made a quick driver for it. I wanted to keep him a bit toonish. I started him with legs but then thought make a easier to work with torso to pop in the beast there. Here is a quickie render of him. The hair is a shader. Worked otu pretty cool.

Still at a loss over what to do about ears. I can make a decent ear but I end up wrapping up so many polygons in it that it is half of wha tht ehead is. I want to find a decent solution that is relativly low poly.

Looking good!

I think the head on your driver is a little low and forward, though. It makes his neck look a bit awkward.

Got any car paint shaders to throw on your model? :)

Thanks I'll look at that. I m,ight do soem other things to the dude there. I still want to rework the ear but keep it reasonably low poly. I do have a nice car shader for it and have ti all ready but I'll wait a bit before I show it off here. Did a big render with the car and soem other things. came out cool.

Thanks!! Are you going to make a model for this challenge. The more the merrier. m3ng and myself switched roles. Last time I did an actual creature and he did something whimsical now I am making a more whimsical vehicle and his is straight up. I think there will be another entry or two. I did post news of this comp on two other sites.

OK guys I am goin gto do the hardcore modelign challenge because I really like the topic. So that puts progress on this beast of a car on hold . I did do a few nice finished looking renders together so you can have a nice view.
