<< how to use virtual mirror >>

Select any one (and only one) face on your object
Apply Tools | VM > Create VM to 'create the mirrored part'
Work on / modify the geom on either side to get the shape you want
Apply Tools | VM > Freeze to convert the 'virtual' half into 'real' geometry.

This last step (the 'freezing) is necessary if you want to make one half of the model (a head, say) slightly different from the other half.

Always make sure the face you choose as your 'mirror face / plane' is flat ... if unsure, use one of the Flatten commands to achieve this.

Always, but always - check the info line contents when doing anything, but especially if using some commands (eg Scale, Flatten) with their RMB options (allowing user to specify particular locations), since wings will automatically shift these positions to the VM plane ... BUT offers an option to disregard this behaviour.

Re Face | Mirror command - just read info line to see the difference between the 2 (L(R)MB options)

Try it all and experiment :)
