Hi equinox,
Newbie here. Have you ever played any of the more elaborate demos made with virtools? And how would you compare them to games made with other software?

What kind of game is Siberia? Is it anything like Myst or Riven? Can you roam around in real time? Great screenshots BTW.

Is the current version of Virtools capable of normal mapping, or vill it be in the near future?

Its supports dot3 mapping - thus normal-maps.
so no need to wait any longer :)

This means you can do doom3-like graphics with it? I've registered at www.virtools.com, but haven't find any images wich demonstrates the normal-mapping capability of vitrools. Do you guys know pictures of that kind, made with virtools?
Btw, dot3 mapping? Never heard of it. Is this equal, more or less compared to normal mapping?

Same thing.
Dot-product3 = dot3 = normal mapping.

Julez4001,
yes virtools has joystick support.
Xaint,
well for doom3-like graphics you need more than normal-mapped models. I haven't look in depth what makes their technology/engine outstanding, but i think a major aspect is how it does dynamic lightning. Although Virtools has stencil shadows and they are quite easily to use, i doubt that virtools can compete with the doom3 engine.
Here's a demo for virtools stencil shadow tech. Now imagine adding bump/nomal-maps. :)
ups, here it is, ups here it is .. http://www.next-url.com/applications/technology-shadow3.asp
But you need to find out your own workflow/pipeline for creating normals maps, mapping on low-poly meshes etc. This isn't done (yet?!) by virtools. But there are a couple of free tool - search the discreet forum. There's some thread listing them nearly all! :)
