View Full Version : Concept Artist wanted for HL˛ mod
Dark Soul 09-17-2003, 12:04 PM I'm about to start a new HL˛ mod with some mates.
The story is been writting atm, but i'm gonna keep it a bit secret :)
All i can say is that it's a future based mod, with pretty much realistisc things (so no aliens or zombies or whatever) and possibly some mech things (so kinda like metal gear solid style).
We're currently looking for a concept artist who wants to help us out with some nice player model designs and so in the style of sparth's work (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/arth/home.htm)
If you think you can help us out, pls say here and ost your best concept art :)

Look at it this way. You are asking for people to help you (by joining your mod team). In turn is it too much for us to ask for a little bit more information on your project? All we know right now is "that it's a future based mod, with pretty much realistisc things and possibly some mech things"
Seriously,
if you want to wake people's interest and have them do work for you FOR FREE this is the least thing we could expect from you.

As said, it's future based, with the story beeing worked out atm.
It'll take place in Siberia, team of special ops guys, with nowadays weapons but also new designed ones.
They'll be fighting mech probably
Just look at Sparth's work and you got the style we'll try to work in ....

Do you know that there are a LOT of semi-future based mods for HL2 going on? Just like the hundreds of WWII mods for HL2. You should have a very very original idea for a semi-future mod to get to the top, otherwise you'll just blend in into the unnoticed crowd...

I was thinking the same, but was afraid i'd be too (inconsiderate) to mention it.

Bleh, originality is impossible, everything has been done
Anywayz, I fond someone who's willing to help us with a few sketches, like 2 or so
But i'm very excited :)

if you think originality is impossible, you haven't spent enough time on this website. look in the finished work section...

Neh it's not inconsiderate. Check the IRC channels of sites like HL2Central.com. When news has been posted about a futuristic mod or about a wwII mod, they go like "agaiiiin???!"
I don't mind it at all, in the beginning I had a great concept for a semi-futuristic mod for HL2 too. But after a lot of concept scetches we decided to stop continue working on the concept since a lot of semi-futuristic mods for HL2 showed up. So we decided to find a new and original concept: Border Patrol.
Anyway, I hope it will work out for you man. Good luck!

Isn't that a glorified version of the rock guy from He-Man? I could be mistaken, but there might have been three rock guys, and I had one of the toys where they rolled up in a rock ball. He was blue. Not to mention TOTALLY AWESOME!
Hello... well that concept no inspired in the he-man.. hehhe
It was more based on the mariners of the starcraft of the blizzard...
Thank you... heheheh:applause:

I've been trying to do abit of 2dMech stuff myself lately, so I can appreicate how awsome your stuff is.
I esp like the joints and the mechanics of your work. It holds up well and actually looks like it would work in the real world.
Who's you inspiration?!
hy guy.. and thnk´s heheh
well I am inspired by all those that make something good.. even if is just a detail in a scribble... to know to collect good references help a lot in the hour of creating...
but the more acquaintances than I admire the work.. it is massamune shirow, katsuhiro otomo, and other mecha designer... the macross creators, are extraordinary...
but I am also inspired a lot by videogames...
thnks

Wow, D-3 that looks fantastic man !
but, we just found someone who will help us, but if he leaves our team for some reason, you're the first one on the list
thanks for the replie and good luck in further work, looks great :)
Everything Well.. heheh reaped late...
any thing informs me and thank you
dark: for being the leader of this project, you're making some awfully rude comments. You're not making anyone wanna jump on your project....
I would calm down and try to be as helpful as encouraging as possilbe to get people to help for free.

what? when was I rude?
It's just that, a mod, is volunteerwork, it's always like that
so asking money for your work is out of the question
of course, if our mod would go retail, the money will get payed to all team members
